Dear Students and Families,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to another great school year here at VMS! I am excited to be starting my twelfth year as principal at VHS, fourth year as principal at VMS, and to continue to be a part of this wonderful Vernon community. I have over 20 years of educational experience spanning grades K-12, including two as the Assistant Principal at both Chipley High School and Vernon High School. I live in Washington County with my wife, Carmen who teaches at Kate Smith Elementary School, and we have two daughters, Emma and Allison.

Regular attendance is essential to each student’s success, as it sets up a good pattern for your student’s final chapters of their schooling career. Please make sure your student is here every day possible. Vernon is a tremendous place for children to learn, grow, and succeed. I believe that each student is a lifelong learner. To facilitate this learning, we provide learning experiences and build efficacy in the areas of student engagement and personal growth. Vernon Middle/High is always striving to improve our strategies for meeting the individual needs, strengths, and interests of each student.

Along with the staff here, I look forward to continuing the legacy of success here at VHS and VMS. We have high learning expectations for our students. Because of that, I provide our students with a staff that is dedicated to providing a comprehensive, standards-based curriculum in a safe and nurturing environment where all students, families, and fellow staff are treated with respect. I am committed to helping every single child reach his or her full potential.
